FREN 443 - Early Mod Fren Lit & Culture
A course on the literary, historical, socio-political, economic, and artistic developments in French society from the Renaissance period to the French Revolution. Topics include Ancien Régime Literary and Cultural institutions; The Birth of the French State; Letters, Diaries, and Memoirs by Female and Male Intellectuals; Ideas and Censorship in Pre-Revolutionary France. Prerequisites: two 300-level courses in French with a grade of C+ or better, placement, or equivalent. Alternate years, 2007-08. Four credits Hamon-Porter, Larsen
